Hip surgery is today most often a prosthetic surgery, it can interest people of all ages when the medical treatment is insufficient and the functional discomfort is very important.

The majority of these cases involve osteoarthritis of the hip, which corresponds to wear and tear of the cartilage. Hip damage is called coxarthrosis, it can be either familial in origin, in which case it is a congenital deformity, or acquired through excessive sport, activity, weight or as a result of an accident.

But the hip can also be affected by inflammatory diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) or Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), as well as Osteonecrosis. These pathologies are most often found in young people.

If in certain cases, conservative surgery such as hip arthroscopy, bone block or osteotomy can be proposed, in most cases a Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA), which corresponds to a complete replacement of the joint, should be considered.
